  3. I couldn’t get enough of the frith chronicles and just finished reading Astra Academy! Can’t wait until book 5 comes out. I need to know what happens with Everett and Lynus!

  5. I loved the Nexus games series so far and I was wondering if in any of the future books it will mention the other personality types for other magics like the entropy mages are like pirates and if not can you please consider maybe doing so? The Nexus games are just such an interesting series and I had wanted to know.

  7. Hey I really enjoyed all of your previous books, and I just finished crown tournament, astra academy, and the nexus games and I was just wondering when the next books for all the series are going to come out. I can’t wait to read them.

    btw I really enjoyed the frith chronicles

    1. Wow! I’m super impressed, legit. The plan right now is for Astra Academy, and the Nexus Games, to be released before the end of the year. AND MAYBE Crown 3! Ryan and I are hard at work on it! So, there will be lots of good upcoming in the near future. ❤

      1. I can’t wait!! Compared to other authors you write your books really fast. Also, I kept trying to look up when your next books would come out and I stumbled upon your newsletter which I think is really fun because people get to ask you questions.

        p.s in astra academy do you think you could have volke mentor sorin, and Everett mentor Gray and maybe help him achieve true form. Also, what happened to traces? Will we figure out what mystical creatures the former god Arcanists bonded too?

      2. There are 61 creatures, all with full art, three with baby art, one with art + baby + true form artwork. There is also artwork for two scenes from Knightmare + Dread Pirate, and also new book divider artwork! I’m super proud of it ;-;

  9. I have a cool idea for a new mystical creature

    Fairy Dragon:

    evocation: a fairy dust that if inhaled paralyzes you

    manipulation: fairy dust

    augmentation: opposite of a nightmare they’re able to light-step into pockets of light but you can still breathe

    augmentation on others: aren’t affected by anything that makes you fall asleep or paralyzes your body

    description: a cat sized pink long dragon with yellow wings and a beautiful flower on their head that changes depending on what season it is

    How they are born: if a curious child lost in the woods near a grove of flowers

    true form ability: they are able to make people tell the truth and can tell when people are lying like a knightmare.

    What they look like as true form: flower on their head opens, wings grow a lot, and their body gets much brighter with glitter around it, also eyes grow golden.

    fix anything if it seems wrong and pls use it in a book.

  11. Shami, the cliffhanger in Crown Tournament 2!!!! Query, how would one go about achieving true form with a Pyroclastic dragon? Feeding them a bunch of human hearts; similar to Lynus’ manticore?

    1. Information on the pyroclastic dragon, including true form, is supposed to be in the recently delayed Bestiary special edition.

      Beyond several public announcements, which didn’t include the pyroclastic dragon, she has been keeping the contents of the upcoming book quiet so as not to ruin things for the people who preordered the book.

  13. The bestiary was supposed to have arrived in the warehouse for shipping on July 25th, but there was a problem at the printer, so the current estimate is “sometime in late August.”

  14. I was wondering if different variants of creatures would change their true form ability, appearance, or requirements. Like how a phoenix can revive would the blue phoenix be different in any way?

    1. Both the standard and blue phoenixes, and their true forms, are supposed to be in the upcoming bestiary special edition.

  17. A game for this series would be incredible. A RPG following volke or an open world map would be incredible with some form of storyline. Theres hundreds of different storylines you could follow like the original series were the goal is to stop the autarch or Academy arcanist where the goal is to open the abayss. This would create an amazing game with so much potential.

  19. I had a question about certain true forms such as the phoenix and the khepera. They both have a true form that only works a certain amount of times like the phoenix gets 8 feathers and each time they resurrect someone they burn away. But what if you embody the virtue a second time would they get those feathers back?

    1. Hello there! No, I’m sorry. Once the creature transforms, that’s it. They don’t transform again (or get the feathers or eyes back). They are extremely powerful abilities that can only be used a limited amount of times.

      HOWEVER, if the arcanist loses their true form phoenix/khepera, and then bonds with another, they could (theoretically) cause it to achieve its true form and then have access to the abilities for a second round.

  20. Is the Apoch dragon considered a dragon for a celestial dragon’s spawn requirements? And if so could you theoretically become a Apoch dragon arcanist if you achieved true form with your celestial dragon.

    1. Knightmares are made from the blood of the assassinated ruler (knightmares have red in their design to account for this). So, they do have blood, it just doesn’t function like other creatures.

  29. Hello Shami! I love the arcanist books, the world is so fantastic. I did have a question regarding one of the characters from the Frith Chronicles. That question is: RHYS????? What is he? A person, an eldrin, an arcanist? What is the deal with his “rizzle” and what happens to him after he gets stuck in the pit. It seemed like there were some strong hints that there is more to this character than meets the eye but what is it? Are there answers out there that I have missed? I am an Audiobook listen so sorry for any spelling mistakes. I have am currently finishing the series for the 3rd time. I feel like I still missed the explanation about Rhys though. Any insight into him or what he was actually bonded to would be great!

    1. Hey there! I’m so sorry, I just saw this comment. First off, don’t worry! You aren’t missing anything. My intent had been to make an Arcanist Fables 2 to that went over some things I couldn’t fit into the main series (Volke’s mother, Rhys, combo magic, etc.) HOWEVER, I got rather discouraged (I apologize) a lot of people were angry I made the fables book so I never got motivated to finish the sequel. It has gone back into my writing, now, though! So hopefully the answer will be out there soon…

      1. They didn’t disband, they slowly transitioned to other roles. Over time, they were absorbed more fully into other nations, or some grew into arcanist houses. I hope that answers your question!

  36. Hi, love your books. I just wanted to know when the last Star Marque book plans to come out. I love that universe. I also wanted to know when the Labyrinth Arcanist audiobook plans to release. Keep up the good work and i can’t wait for your comic book to come out.

  37. I’m a big fan of the frith chronicles and looked at the bestiary and had a question about the white hart. When you say they manipulate sound do you mean they can do things such as mimic others voices or just manipulating the volume of sounds?

  41. I just finished the Firth Chronicles and I have to say idk which I like more and which is now my favorite series this or the Astra Academy. My only regret is reading Astra Academy first but at the time when I found Astra Academy I had no idea about the Firth Chronicles. I can not wait for the next book in the Astra Academy series. And just found out about the Tournament of Crowns series so I guess that will be my next read.

  42. Likely unnecessary but possible SPOILERS below:

    I just finished the Frith Chronicles (I know I’m quite late to the game) and I’m about to start the Astra Academy series but I did have a few questions:

    Did Cinna ever bond to a mythical creature? (I thought it may have been implied in the last book but I ultimately wasn’t sure.) 

    Was Luthair ever bonded to someone in the Second Ascension? (I was unsure based on the fight at the Sylica Waters lair or if that was just from the arcane plague.)

    Are Fain and Adelgis still together at the end of the last book in the series? (I was hoping for him to also show up again but he wasn’t in the last scene with Adelgis.)

    Lastly, do MOS and Keeper ever reunite?

    Anyway, I absolutely loved this series and totally cried my eyes out those last few chapters of the last book.

    (If any of this is revealed in the Astra Academy series then simply ignore the question, thank youuuuu!)
