    1. I just finished Academy Arcanist, excellent work as always dear author. The one thing that kept surprising me was Gray’s character. He speaks the same way that Volke does, but what he says is so different that it gives me whiplash everytime I forget he isn’t Volke.

Also, I assume a true form mimic would become the true form of whatever creature it transforms into, but my question is whether or not there are rare form mimics, and if so, what would they do differently?

      1. I’m super glad you enjoy the novel! ❤
As for your question: the mimics don't current have variant. Dopplegangers and MoS would be considered the "variant" shapeshifters.

      2. My guesses were a true form mimic can either use the chimera ability freely, gains the ability to mimic exact creatures (so can become a true form creature but only when copying one), or gains the ability to “remember” a certain number of forms after the creature being copied is out of range.

  1. I’m a fan of both your Frith Chronicles and The Nexus Games series’. When do you plan on writing and releasing the next Nexus Games book? Thanks!

  2. Do you have any plans for a bestiary? If you do it might be cool to have a fanart competition for some of the illustrations. If not, well, it’s your universe who am I to tell you what to do?

    1. I would love to have a fanart section! But I can only add the ones with high enough resolutions (for the print version). I’m hoping to get an artist to do little artworks for the majority of the creatures.

  3. Just read Academy Arcanist and was immediately hit with nostalgia over the earlier Frith books. So happy Fain still lives after the God – Arcanists War! But did feel like it was a bit of spoiler. Also is Headmaster Venrover – Adelgis Venrover, because it doesn’t mention and he has a sphinx eldrin which is not what adelgis has

    1. I said Academy only had 2 minor spoilers (nothing that will spoil the ending to Grandmaster) – and I’m really glad you enjoyed and had that nostalgic feeling!

      1. Is one of those spoilers that something happened to the Mother of Shapeshifters? Because it seemed like she conducted the trials of worth for mimics and dopplegangers, but then Twain said he didn’t know his trial of worth, that he didn’t even have one, which seems to imply that MoS is no longer around. Additionally there is the fact that Twain is even in the Menagerie instead of in the wilds with Mos.

  6. Just finished academy arcanist, I loved the fact that thr way gray spoke was so similar to volke
It was mentioned that the headmaster had a fading arcanist mark, and fain was his bodyguard (kinda) so is there a chance that the headmaster will be adelgis? There wasnt anything about guilds, so are they eradicated and will we see any more characters from the frith chronicles series? Sorry for the super long post but i can’t contain my curiosity!

    1. Hey there! Some of those things are spoilers, lol – but there will definitely be more characters and lots of references to the Frith Chronicles in coming books. Grandmaster first, though! ❤

    1. Hello! Thank you so much for the kind words! You’ve made my day. As for the book… I’m currently working on a Bestiary! I want to have artwork and cool things for the inside. I’m hoping it’ll release after Grandmaster Arcanist. ❤

  8. Hi recently finished Master Arcanist and I was wondering what was the inspiration for the Knightmare eldrins? I know a lot of other ones are from different mythologies, but from where is the Knightmare? Is it one specific myth or story or did you come up with it yourself? P. S. Cant wait for the next book.. I am saving the Academy Arcanist after I read the Grandmaster.

    1. Hello there! I made up the Knightmare. My husband and I have a table-top role playing game we invented together, and the knightmare is from that. I loved him so much I wanted to put him in a book series! (And I’m so glad you enjoyed! You’ve made my day. I hope you enjoy Grandmaster Arcanist as well!)

  9. Hello Shami, loving the Frith chronicles and super excited for Grandmaster Arcanist! I hope it comes out soon! You’ve said before that a true form mimic would be able to mimic the true forms of other eldrin, but since mimics copy other eldrin in every way (like a nighmares missing pieces) will they only be able to mimic the true form if the arcanist they’re mimicing has achieved true form? Or will any eldrin they mimic be made into it’s true form version? Last question but will a true form mimic be able to mimic more things, like how Zelfree couldn’t mimic MOS but in true for he could or is that not possible?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hey there! Great questions! Some of them might be minor spoilers, but I’ll clear things up with: Zelfree’s mimic couldn’t mimic the true form of creatures (his manitcore was a normal one when compared to Calisto’s) BUT if his mimic was true form, he could have a white manticore and all that entails. As for creatures like MOS, a true form mimic would have the capacity! o.o

  11. I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find grandmaster arcanist even though Goodreads said that it came out a bit over a month ago. Is there any reason for it not being on Amazon or is the date of release wrong.

    1. Hello there! Sorry about that. Grandmaster Arcanist hasn’t released yet. Someone put a date on Goodreads on their own. I apologize! It should be out fairly soon (and with artwork!)

      1. I wouldn’t dare rush your genius, I just had not seen mention of it anywhere and I am eager to see where the story goes next. After finishing Master Arcanist, I have been on the edge of my seat for the next book in the Frith Cronicles (though it is bittersweet because I could easily read another eight books in the series and never be satiated). You are my favorite author and I happily await any and all books that you may write!

  14. Hello dear author ! No questions here actually 😅. I just wanted to tell you that I really love your work. Every single one of you books made me laugh, cry, jump from my seat with excitement and, sometimes, a bit tachycardic even. You rapidly became one of my favorite authors and I wanted to thank you for providing us such amazing stories. Please stay healthy and, once again, thank soooooo much! Can’t wait for Grandmaster Arcanist (Ps: sry if I wrote anything wrong. English is not my mother tongue and I’m kinda rusty. I learn a lot by reading your books though 😁)

  15. Hey! I read your books and Coliseum Arcanist was my favorite! I have a book completely written, and I’m looking forward to publishing it. Could you give me an idea of how long it could take to get it published?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hey there! I’m glad you enjoyed my work. As for your question: it depends on the route you take! If you find an agent, and then go to a big publishing house, it’ll likely take 6-24 months before your book hits the shelves. If you self publish, you could have the book on Amazon in less than a few days if you really just wanted it out there as fast as possible.

A small press (that doesn’t require an agent) will likely have it on the shelves within a month or two, depending on how long edits take.

There are many roads to getting published! You just have to decide which route is best for you. Do you want control? More money, less fame? Self-publish. Do you want someone else to handle everything? Less money, but more clout? Try the traditionally published route! Either way, CONGRATS! It takes a lot of hard work to complete a novel. ❤

  17. Hi! I just had an idea for 2 eldrin for the frith chronicles(hope u find these interesting).

    Astral Dragon
    Tier 4
Evocation: super-heated diamond(bones are also made of diamond)
    Manipulation: space
    Augmentation: increasing or decreasing weight
True Form Ability: bonding with another magical creature

    Emerald Wolf
    Tier 3
    Evocation: plants
    Manipulation; sound
    Augmentation: healing
True Form Ability: influencing emotions with different sounds

  18. In a world full of unique and interesting individuals, Stovik in Academy Arcanist stands apart both in personality to choice of eldrin. Large, a bit slower than the brilliant intellects around him, likes rhyming … was Sorin modeled after Fezzik in Princess Bride?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I think it’s better to say that both Fezzik and Sorin were modeled after classical philosopher knights. The giants with hearts of gold who were masters of combat and civility. ❤

      1. All of your other characters have been so well developed, even those with a relatively simple concept when first introduced, like Fain and Callisto, blossomed into something deep and interesting.
I’d love to see Soren get the same depth and differ from Fezzik in some non-trivial way.

      2. So Volke bonded with a Knightmare then proceeds to join the Frith Guild. Gray goes to the Academy to bond. Is a guild the same as an academy? Is there an advantage being at an academy over a guild?

  19. Hi there? I have a few questions about Grandmaster,,(not about the release date). So is the bestiary only gonna contain the god-creatures, or is there gonna be other creatures mentioned in it?
Is the book going to include the apoch dragon vs god arcanists showdown?
    Thanks!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hello! The bestiary will include the god-creatures, yes! And the bestiary will include all the creatures I’ve mentioned (hopefully) along with a few I never got to use in the series (but that might show up in the Academy series). And I can’t reveal the answer to the last question! I’m anti-spoiler. o.o

  20. Why is it that some arcanist show signs of aging while other arcanist still look young after many centuries? Do they start aging after the arcanist and mystical creature have a great distance between them; or do arcanist just start aging after their mystical creature reaches final maturity?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hey there! Some arcanists show some aging for one of two reasons! Either they (1) took damage from a magical sources that harmed their soul or (2) you’re correct, if the arcanist and their eldrin are separated for long periods of time. They lose connection to their magic, and start to age normally.

    1. I’ve won tournaments against people significantly better than me. Not often, but it’s not impossible.
Too many factors are in play to predict what will happen each and every time. I imagine that uncertainty would multiply when, for example, the expert didn’t know everything the novice could do. A single power, like tremor sense, could change a battle.

  21. I can’t remember which book it was but recently I was thinking about the hidden message in one of the Frith Chronicles books that said “Kill the Grandmaster Inquisitor” I really like how you didn’t directly tell readers how to decipher it and didn’t tell them to try and figure it out in the first place either, I always love those little details in books that you could’ve gone without but made the book so much better by putting them in there.

Frith Chronicles is without question the greatest book I’ve ever read, Thank you.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’m really glad you caught that message. Not many people do! I sometimes wonder if I should just leave out minor details (because how many people will notice?) but messages like this remind me sometimes it makes the story special. Thank you – you’ve made my night.
