  1. are you going to continue writing stories in the world of Astra Academy/Frith Chronicles/Crown Tournament? I love all the stories. Read all of Frith Chronicles twice lol

    1. Hey there! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the Frith Chronicles. I probably will do more stories in the universe! But for right now, I’m focused on finishing Astra Academy. Hopefully you’ll have fun with that one, too!

      2. I also cannot wait for elder arcanist as I have just finished labrynth. Would love to know when it will come out!

  2. I just finished 24 hour Warlock! I am putting Shami Stovall in the category of reading with Glen Cook, Frank Herbert, Jim Butcher, Tolkien, and Anne McCaffery. As you will notice a lot of these authors are either older or dead. The other thing they have in common is I agonize to read their next book. Stovall is certainly a writer that leaves me thirsting for more of the story. I can see plot points developing and want to get to the GOOD STUFF! But, patience, my friend… my nemesis, will get me there sooner or later <write faster!>. Shami, thank you for adding the joy and wonder of your amazing imagination to my life! Also, I am ready for the next Adair Finch book <hint hint nudge nudge>. If an Eric Idle quote gets me there faster, I will take it 😉

    1. I already put her writing speed on part with Brandon Sanderson. She cranks out several books a year, every year. If the Adair Finch books are all you have read, you have a big reading list while you wait for the next installment.

    2. I’m so glad you enjoyed Adair Finch’s story so far! Time God Warlock (the 4th book in the series) SHOULD be out by the end of this year. Fingers crossed!

  3. how did you get a publisher. I’m currently planning out a fantasy story that uses elements from a lot of other stories, anime, movies, books (this one too). I’m currently a high school senior and wanted to looking into publishing options.

    1. Hey there! I self-published the Frith Chronicles. Capital Station Books is my own company. Don’t be afraid to self-publish, it’s a legit path to success, so long as you’re willing to put in the work.

  4. hello!

I just finished Labyrinth Arcanist and I LOVE these characters!!! And their Eldrin, and their stories!!!

Please make a 6th book! Is there one in the works? Better yet, make it a 20 book series. Please? 🙂

    1. Elder Arcanist, the 6th book, is supposed to be the last one in this set. However, as Shami has already proven with Frith Chronicles, Astra Academy, and the Crown Tournament trilogy, this world has lots of room for more stories.

  5. I am about done with you and all your series. I have been waiting for the better part of 5 years for the finales of Nexus and Star Marque, you keep promising that you are working on them and they will be out soon but they are not. Meanwhile you crank out Frith stuff quite regularly. If you don’t plan on finishing a series anytime soon or not at all just say so and stop stringing readers along. I have become so disillusioned with you that I haven’t finished Crown Tournament 3, yet I have had it in my library since it came out.

    1. You forgot three books from the Time-Marked Warlock series, two books for Words of Power, three successful special edition hardbacks, and she is due to birth her first baby this month as well. And that’s just in 2025. Meanwhile, I recently read *one* Peter B. Beagle book which took him ten *years* to write.

    2. Give her a break she’s writing mulitple series at a time and just had a kid. What did you expect and instant book machine. It takes so long to write and create these kinds of projects. I’ve been working on world building my own book for the past 3 months and only have 4 pages actually written. Calm down she’ll get there when she gets there. Patience is a virtue

      1. AND? What’s your point? Did Beagle state a time for his book to be finished and not make his own state time of release, multiple instances?

    3. Hey there!

Sorry to hear you’re disillusioned. In case you’re unaware, I make all my money from being an author. It’s my full-time career. Star Marque and Nexus Games don’t make much money at all, so they’re currently on my back burner (which I have said multiple times, even on this website!).

However, I love them both dearly and will not stop writing them. This means I have two choices. Either, I write them super fast to complete the series and say THEY’RE DONE, or I write them when I’m passionate to make sure they’re what I’d like series finales to be.

Whenever I write something super fast, though, it’s always less quality than when I’m passionate.

So, my options are A) finish it quick, it’s lower quality, makes me no money. Or B) finish it whenever I’m passionate, so it’s high quality and I love it, and still makes me no money.

As the wonderful Miyamoto once said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” I feel this in my heart. It’s the same with books.

Star Marque Rising was one of my first Sci-Fi books I ever wrote, and I love it. To this day, I think it’s one of the best books I’ve ever written. I want the conclusion to be grand. Nexus Games was SO FUN to write, and the ending is technically written (that’s how much I loved it, lol) but I need to write the parts up to it, if that makes sense. I don’t want to release them in terrible condition.

The covers are done, the editors say they’ll be there for me when I need them on those projects, so I just have to make sure I’m happy with them! I hope readers would understand, but I also get that you’d rather have them sooner than later.

If the sales suddenly pick up on them, I’d be forced to write them. As it stands, they have to be back burner projects. I hope this explanation sheds light on the situation! I do write them. Just slowly.

      1. I don’t remember making hard promises that I would make any release date, but I do try to make all my deadlines! Unfortunately, sometimes things take way longer than normal. I can’t predict that. Editors take longer, *I* take longer (because I need to rework sections or check things like continuity), or other problems pop up that need my immediate attention (like my computer needing to be replaced, lol). I can’t account for everything when I give a tentative release. Until the book is finished and I have it up for pre-order, I tend to just give windows for what I hope will work out, and I also hope people will understand.

    1. Over a year ago, Shami said she was aiming for late January 2026. Lately, on her discord, she recently said that March is more likely. Forced to make a choice, she would rather the story be good than fast.

      I happen to agree.

    2. Hello there! Elder Arcanist has grown longer than I anticipated, and should be out in March (so long as the edits go smoothly!). Sorry for the delay, I just don’t want it to feel rushed in anyway.

    1. Hey there! Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot! I’ll definitely keep my nose to the grindstone. I don’t want to disappoint anyone (except for maybe my haters, rofl) but anyone coming on to pester me about release dates is a double edged sword. On the one hand, I’m happy they’re eager for the rest of the story! On the other hand, I wish I could work faster to make sure all my stories get out super timely… Either way, my only option is to keep working, so I shall!

Thank you again. I super appreciate you taking the time to encourage me. Really does mean a lot.
