Thanks for visiting! This page explains, in plain English, what information this site collects, why, and what choices you have.

What I collect

  • Newsletter signups: If you join my newsletter, I collect your email address (and any name you choose to give).
  • Contact form: If you send a message through the Contact page, I receive your name, email address, and your message.
  • Comments: If you leave a comment, the name, email, and website you enter, your comment, and basic technical details (like your IP address) are stored.
  • Purchases: Merch and special editions are paid for through PayPal. PayPal handles your payment and shipping details; I receive the order information needed to fulfill your purchase, but I never see your full card or bank details.
  • Site statistics: Basic, aggregated visit data (like pages viewed and general location by country) is collected automatically.

How I use it

I use your information only to send the newsletter you signed up for, answer your messages, show and moderate comments, fulfill orders, and understand how the site is used. I don’t sell your personal information.

Third-party services

  • Mailchimp stores newsletter subscriber emails and sends the newsletter.
  • PayPal processes payments for merch and special editions, under PayPal’s own privacy policy.
  • WordPress.com / Automattic hosts this site and stores contact form messages and comments.
  • Jetpack (by Automattic) provides site statistics, the contact form, and related features. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, and commenter avatars may be shown through Gravatar (both Automattic services).

Each of these services has its own privacy policy that explains how they handle your data.

Cookies

This site and the services above use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember comment details if you choose, count visits, and process payments. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as well.

Unsubscribing

Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it any time and you’ll be removed.

Your data requests

Want to see, correct, or delete the information I have about you? Just send a request through the Contact page and I’ll take care of it.

Children

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has shared information here, please let me know through the Contact page and I’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I’ll change the effective date at the top of this page.
