  1. Do abyssal dragons have gease for their true form. Is that why the death lord with the other death lords souls is so powerful because she’s almost true form

    1. I think it is a bit different in Abyss. I think abyssal dragons become elder monsters instead of true forms because when we were discussing if demos could put souls in Gray they would become elder monsters so I think that what would happen

    1. Hey there! A “geas” is a “(in Irish folklore) an obligation or prohibition magically imposed on a person.” In the Frith Chronicles, it is a requirement style for achieving a true form with a mystical creature. A creature with a “geas” has a requirement (a quest) you have to fulfill in order for your creature to transform

  2. Just finished listening to the frith chronicles on audio book, and it had me curious if you had any other ideas for the god creature volke would bond with other than the world serpent?

      1. That’s exactly what i thought as well! A nice combination of his home roots and his shadows from luthair. Super excited to read the new arcanist books coming out soon!!

  3. Can a death lord put souls on another person? Like can a demos give gray souls of an arcanist so gray can gain the arcanists eldrins form or does that not work?

    Like

    1. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t work. Deimos has a soul fragment attached to Gray, not his full soul, and if Gray was given a bunch of souls he wouldn’t gain their abilities (they’re not alive anymore, unlike Deimos) he and Twain would become elder monsters.

      1. I was answering hypothetically. Hypothetically, if multiple souls were put into someone, they turn into a elder monster, not someone with all the powers and skills of the souls.

  4. Will there be a novel about the first god arcanist war? It will absolutely thrilling for us to have a series about how warlord Luvi defeated other god arcanists.

    1. There *might* be – I’ve been writing short stories about the first god-arcanists for my Patreon that I may (in the future) put together into a single novel. But that will be a little later!

  5. So I was thinking, as a normal human does, but instead of tacos, I was thinking of eldrin ideas, because why not? Anyway, here are some of mine from the last few hours.

    (Name not made)

Evocation: space pockets and/or storage spaces where things are held in stasis, at the same velocity in which they came in. I feel like the projectile applications are sled explanatory.
Manipulation: complete control of their own mind. Ex. Cognition, dreams, imagination, willpower.
Augmentation: magical sight, like seeing soul energy, magic in people’s bodies or arcanist marks, and seeing through time and space.
True form: half the eldrin becomes a part of your mind, soul, and body, allowing you to maske your arcanist mark or bond again, with the second creature reduced by 1 Tier because of the soul energy consumption.
Requirements are a thirst for knowledge and a faultless judgement.
    Tier: 3
Description: A primordial stag born from the imagination of scholars, exemplifying their best qualities.
Special abilities: all yheir magic combined can create a personal space within the arcanist mind, where they can mimic the real world and control the flow of time.
My description sucks, but if you have any edits, that would help, and here’s my second idea.

Name: Some kind of nomad or sage aesthetic name.
Description: A empty orange monk cloak/robe with a single rudraksha necklace(a type of Hindu bead necklace) with a trident on the end. They are born from the death of great thinkers and sages.
    Tier: 3
Evocation: sound imbued with emotional descriptions created with their song can come to life, but only affect the mind and soul, not the physical world. Ex. A storm description can make the victim feel like they experienced a lightning strike.
Manipulation: willpower, they can force an attack to stop with their will and words if the attack is below or at their strength level.
    Augmentation: bodily strength
Special abilities: this eldrin can store itself inside its bead necklace which the arcanist can wear. The trident charm on the necklace can transform into an actual one, and each of the beads can transform into a different musical instrument. Merge with arcanist.
True form ability: make their arcanist immune to mental and spiritual attacks, requires complete harmony between soul, emotions, and body.

    Hope you like this. Cheers!!!

  6. Hi there! Just wanted to say, as a newcomer to your series, I absolutely adore Academy Arcanist. Gray and Twain are loveable and easy to relate to, and I can’t wait for Death Lord Arcanist. Thanks for a binge-worthy read, I zoomed through a book a day!

  7. Here is a mystical creature I came up with

    Void Dragon

Trial of Worth: One must survive ten days inside a pitch black cave and then survive 2 minutes in a fight with the dragon

    Tier: 4

    Evocation: Extreme Terrors

    Manipulation: Shadows

Augmentation: Can shadow step (farther and faster than a knightmare) and bring other people and things with them

Imbuing: Makes armor lighter and stronger and makes weapons stronger. Also reduces sound output from imbued items. Non-combat related items will gain one of the innate abilities possessed by the dragon (Sometimes shadow stepping will be possible if boots or other footwear is imbued)

Innate Abilities: Night vision, terror immunity, immune to instant death related skills, shadow sense (allows the void dragon and its arcanist to sense the location of strong shadows,) no need to breath, immune to all mind related magic (mind reading, dream manipulation, etc.)

Reproduction: (Fable) Whenever an unbonded dragon dies while inside shadows (from shadow stepping) it will be reborn as a void dragon

True Form: (Geas) One must obtain the cape of a knightmare and attach it to the dragon

True Form Ability: Shadow Healing (Allows the dragon and its arcanist to turn shadows into flesh in order to heal, even allowing the recovery of lost limbs)

Aura: Black Hole (Everything within a certain area of the arcanist turns completely into darkness and allows absolutely no light to shine through, even rendering light evocation useless. Also causes slight fatigue to everyone other than darkness type eldrin and arcanists)

    1. Interesting. So the dragon and its arcanist can make infinite others by dragging other dragons into shadows to suffocate? The ability to drag unwilling others into inescapable suffocation is a major power up from knightmares.

  8. Ooh, the void dragon seems absolutely killer! And yeah the King Basilisk one makes sense. Could you end up using the Void Dragon in The Astra Academy Series or Kirin Arcanist? It’d undeniably make for a sinister villain Eldrin!
Love the books, and can’t wait for new releases in 2024, also Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas!

  9. Hi Shami! Absolutely hooked on the arcanist series. I’ve been patiently waiting on Abysal Arcanist to be released on audible. Any idea when that title and crown tournament will be available?

    1. Hey there! I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed my books. Abyssal Arcanist SHOULD be out in Feb 2024 (by Tantor). As for Crown Tournament, I’m hoping for around the same time as well! Hopefully that helps! ❤

  10. Can you plesse write a story about Autarch’s journey into the god creatures lair and create a frith chronicles world map with all god creatures lair marked?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I love this idea, and even want to make a map of one of the lairs. I’m hoping (fingers crossed) I’ll do another super special edition of the next books and get to put those in! (Including some sorties from Autarch’s point of view)

  11. In Crown tournament, Elias told amir that roux saw him and recognised him as her destined arcanist. But in Plague Arcanist, In Volke’s dream Eventide told Zelfree kirins only talk with their arcanist. Then how did roux Inform Elias about amir without talking with him?

    Like

    1. Roux never spoke to him, she just indicated Amir was her arcanist in other (non-verbal) ways. Elias understands a lot about kirins and wasn’t confused. I hope that helps! ❤

  12. After first god arcanist war, arcanists wiped out silver hart for its body part. But they didn’t show much interest in white hart and golden hart. What is so significant about silver hart?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I don’t believe I ever mentioned silver harts or golden harts – there’s a golden stag in Academy Arcanist (the doctor is bonded to him) but no golden/silver harts.

      1. Luvi mentions the silver harts when he talks to Volke in Warlord Arcanist, at the end of chapter 40.

    3. Was it “didn’t show much interest in white harts” or just that white harts are *excellent* at hiding from hunters?

  13. Every mystical creature has a second secret trial of worth which allow them to achieve their true form. But Kirins doesn’t have a trial of worth to begin with. So do they have a true form?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Kirins do have true forms! A kirin’s trial of worth is more like an expectation – you have to become the powerful ruler they predict you will be in order for them to achieve their true form.

      Like

    2. Arcanists achieve true form when they embody a virtue or pass a geas. Volke went over it in Mimic arcanist.

If I had to make a guess, I’d guess that kirin are geas type. Probably something related to their destiny.

    1. The Bestiary (kickstarter) details 61 creatures, and I believe I included one more with the ability to manipulate shadows (a true form!) – I can’t wait for it to get out in the wild!

  14. I just wanted to know, what will happen if a gold kirin arcanist bonded with another kirin? Will the amount of eldrin they can bond with increase?

    Like

    1. unless the kirn bonded to multiple golden kirn nothing would increase or change. Theoretically the magical output of the kirn would increase as it had another kirn boosting it.

  15. love the frith chronicles, astra academy, and crown tournament! All great reads. I was wondering for the hydra do they have a limit on the amount of heads they can regrow or will the just contuine to grow the longer they are bonded? Also are they any variants that are more like their creator the typhon beast?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hey there! I’m so glad you enjoy my novels. That really makes my day! (Happy Easter is you celebrate, btw!) – As for your questions… Hydras, in theory, can gain lots of heads (but never more 99). And as of right now, there are no hydra variants (other than the typhon beast) BUT there may be in future books.

  16. Spoiler Alert for Death lord Arcanist!!

So, I just started reading the book and I was really surprised to see Everett in the abyssal hells, is he actually Zelfree. Because it would make sense if he was seeing as Ryker was called instead of him to the abyssal hells. Are we going to learn more about how Everett ended up there or no?

And will bestiary have a kindle version?

  18. Ms. Stovall! I just finished Deathlord Arcanist and I cannot believe where I see this story heading! Without posting any spoilers I read the first three books for Astra Academy and then while waiting for the fourth I read the Frith Chronicles and basically cried reading the end of the last book (I imagine you know which part). Your books are so entertaining and I cannot wait for the next one! Is there any chance we will see a true form Mimic or even true form Abyssal Dragon in any of the next books? Will we learn where are the rest of the God-Arcanists? Again thank you so much for the books!

    1. oh and one question I had if a mimic were to copy a kirin could that arcanist technically get another mythical creature. If so could it then be possible to bond with an infinite loop of mimics turn them all into kirins and then give one final creature the power up of a lifetime?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. I would be possible for a mimic to mimic a kirin, and then perhaps bond with another creature, BUT passing all the trials of worth and empowering them for one mega magic would probably take a while, and if the mimic reverted back, the arcanist would die. o.o
